Seriously...gamers want to be taken seriously, we want mature games, handling mature themes...but then there are the idiots that think a game is the more mature, the more boobs and gore it contains...that is just childish...and sadly they are not a minority...
Thinking about professionals in the game industry whooping and cheering on behalf of interactive torture at the hands of Sam Fisher (before the 'moral choice' of killing or sparing him), gives me the shudders...makes me not want to be part of that industry anymore...
To be fair, the guy isn't asking for boobs bouncing around on the battlefield, and a bit of gore actually makes sense because its a battle. Maturity and gore are not incompatible, in fact there are tons of very critically acclaimed mature things (tv shows, movies, games) that have gore. That being said, the destruction of nanites on the battlefield makes this idea of gore left on the battlefield not feasable. |

I would like to see pieces of the inside of the body blow up from targets... and leave them there for everybody to see... and how about soldiers still going without an arm or a leg? a lot more realistic I say... think sniper shot, hit in the face, helmet cracks and eye and brain pops out.... Let's see what people think.... Remember this is being marketed worldwide. The Australians already had to deal with not having a server to play on effectively for months, and now you want a feature that would get the whole game banned in their country? Not to mention others with media review boards.
Thought australians got a 18+ game rating law passed, ending the defacto ban on mature games. I could be wrong. |

They would just be as mature without gore. Just because something is rated mature, it is not necessarily mature.
I never said gore makes something mature, I never said that at all. All I am saying is that gore and maturity are not incompatible. Having gore wouldn't necessarily make the game less mature. I don't understand why you lump the writer of this thread with the "more gore = more mature" crowd; he said nothing suggesting this. |
